2018 Paving Plan

Arlington County has released its 2018 street paving plan. Streets in Douglas Park include segments of:

  • S Lincoln St
    S Lowell St
    S Nelson St
    S Norwood St
    S Oakland St
    S Stafford St
    S Thomas St
    S Wakefield St
    12th St S
    13th St S
    16th St S
    16th Rd S

Arlington County will begin this year’s paving season around mid-March and end in mid-October 2018, weather permitting.

A notice will be distributed to each residential or business address to notify them their streets has been selected for paving. Attached is the door hanger which will be distributed along with “No Parking Signs” 24 to 48 hours prior to the start of operation. There will be inconveniences such as traffic detours, no parking on the streets, noise, dust, etc.

Washington Gas Work, Summer 2014

Washington Gas has announced the next phase of its line replacement schedule. Work will be occurring in the following neighborhood locations this summer:

Columbia Pike at S Glebe Rd
Portions of Westmont Gardens
3700 block of 12th St S
13th St S at S Monroe St
14th St S at S Glebe Rd
1700 block of S Quincy St
S Quincy St at S Walter Reed Dr
S Randolph St at 16th St S
S Stafford St at 16th St S

Street Sealing in Douglas Park

The 2013 County Street Slurry Seal preventative maintenance program will begin around 8 July and end sometime in November 2013

We have been advised that the following streets in Douglas Park are currently scheduled for sealing work this summer:

  • South Quincy Street from 16th Street South to South Walter Reed Drive
  • South Stafford Street from 16th Street South to 18th Street South
  • 18th Street South from South Stafford Street to South Quincy Street

Slurry Seal is a water-based, emulsified asphalt mixture spread one-eighth inch (1/8″) thick over the street surface. It protects streets from water penetration, provides a new surface with improved skid-resistance, and is a quick and economical repair method between full resurfacings.

The operation requires street closures and parking restrictions for 4-8 hours depending on weather.

A notice will be mailed out to affected addresses 4 week in advance on the affected streets and is followed up with door hangers. These provide information about the planned activities and suggestions for residents.
